Collection: Le Corbusier
Le Corbusier is a Swiss and French architect, urbanist, painter, decorator and sculptor who is a symbol of the modern movement.
A great modern architect and urbanist of international renown, Le Corbusier had a major impact on the 20th century. He began his architectural career in Paris, where the devastation of the First World War necessitated major rebuilding. A forerunner in the quest for a new, he had a purer architectural style, and founded purism, which he theorised in his works on urban planning. He puts his aesthetic theories into practice on his building sites. In the 1930s, he became interested in design and, together with Charlotte Perriand, created minimalist and refined furniture.
