Collection: YANN MASSEYEFF, 1968. French sculptor.

Born in Dakar, Yann Masseyeff was nourished by the richness of a multitude of cultural influences.

At a young age, he began drawing and very quickly turned to ceramics. It is thanks to an encounter with the artist Pascal Lacroix who taught him how to turn porcelain, to master complex techniques such as reduction or Far Eastern enamels.

But what makes Yann Masseyeff vibrate is the emotion of the materials and textures. Reminiscences of ancestral and tribal forms inhabit him and feed his gestures. So he models the clay with his intuition, creates an almost primary dialogue with his sculptures and makes his creative energy resonate in them.

In 2021, Yann Masseyeff set up his new studio at the foot of the Pyrenees, an isolated peaceful place close to nature. There he sculpts and models stoneware amulets, all of which are unique pieces. He assembles them, composes them, humanizes them and transmits to them all his sensitivity. He reveals his way of perceiving the world.

In April 2022. Yann Masseyeff will create a monumental work on the Place Vendôme. The work "Ligne de Vie", composed of two rows of sculptures, is an allegory on time and on the uniqueness of each individual's life.
